I still don't get hw you can just TAKE a picture and have it look professional. I am not joking-I really want to know the answers to these questions....
1)What do you use for lighting? If it is just the flash-that is weird since USUALLY flashes give off an unnatural tone to skin.
2) Do you tape a sheet to the wall or something? How does the background extend past the picture. I mean-a couch top isn't THAT high!
Anyway-I love your pictures and love your kids' beautiful smiles. Especially Millie-dears eyes and Annika's deep little dimples. I can't WAIT to see what little Baby Berry will look like...
#1. Lighting is natural. The flash on my non-fancy camera distorts anything on which it glares, so I try to use only natural lighting for most pictures, which results in another problem-- blurry pictures due to slow shutter speed. Sigh... Anyway, here's a plug for natural lighting! As soon as the sun came out, the first time I had seen it all week, I hurriedly gussied up the girls and took some pictures. Unfortunately, the sun chose to unveil its face right when they were supposed to go to bed, so both of the girls, but Annika especially, were very grumpy and sleep-starved when I tried to squeeze smiles out of them.
Also, you'll notice that the lighting in most of the pictures is uneven and leaves a lot to be desired anyway. That's because in mid-morning, the sunlight slants through our window more strongly on one side. I tried moving the couch to fix the problem halfway through, which made a few of the pictures better, but by that time, both girls were protesting this forced photo shoot, so I gave up!
#2. I just improvise with the curtains or sheet. Last year, I anchored the sheet against the wall above the couch by leaning books (what else) as ballast to give it more height since tape wouldn't hold. This year, I didn't have time to fiddle, so I just had Millie scrunch down a bit (our couch has a fairly high back, which helps a lot).
I can't wait to see the wee one, either! Only seven weeks to go!
