The skies have offered their overflow of cold drizzle lately. Stuck indoors most days, the girls and I both get a little stir-crazy. They found their harmonicas on Tuesday, too, which made
me ready to walk to the post office no matter what the weather.
Papa gave my next sister his real harmonica when she was about Annika's age, and she carried it with her everywhere. I'm sure it was a motivating factor behind many of our trips to the park in those early years...
ReplyDeleteHarmonica's are one of those things kids love but being older now I think it's kind of gross. My younger brother got a harmonica for a birthday one year. My recollection is that we would jam the thing in our mouths and blow in and out on the thing until it was throughly full of spit. Of course the harmonica was shared. Of course we'd make sure it was clean by wiping off the outside. Heh.
ReplyDeletea.l.,
ReplyDeleteI know it was a motivating factor in our walking to the post office that day. Nearly the only factor, if truth be known, because the cold rain certainly wasn't a compelling enough reason!
Rundy,
Yep. I recall similar spit situations, only with our family's one and only recorder.
