The girls helped me make seasoned spaghetti sauce.

  1. Her hat matches the plates on the wall! That was planned, right? ;)

  2. I LOVE her hat!

Is this thing called a Victorio? A lady from church is letting me borrow her contraption (and it is discribed very much like this...) for making applesauce. So, we may be having duplicate pictures here in the next few days, except with different colored foodstuffs. :-)

  3. I was also going to mention the hat!! Very cute! My favorite canned fare is tomatoes by far...it makes my mouth water just looking at all of your "hard work" :)

  4. Rebecca,
This is the classic Squeezo, and if you're going to be using a similar contraption, you'll love it! It makes any sauce-making a breeze. This is the same Squeezo that my mom used for 30 years until a friend passed along her newer one, and I'm all-too-familiar with that hand crank. In good years, my mom would can 90 quarts of tomato sauce alone, in addition to all the other stuff she canned. After I canned a measly ten quarts of sauce, I asked her how in the sam hill she was able to do it all. "Slave labor," she replied. (My arm still aches remembering that crank, and, as you can see, I'm setting my girls up for similar memories.)

    Titi and Wendy,
Of COURSE I try to coordinate the girls clothing with the wall-deco! Don't you all? (She chose the hat herself, though.)

  5. The all-metal Squeezos are the best!! This is exactly what my mom has. I have very fond memories of making applesauce with my mom using this. Last year, Matthew helped me make our own applesauce. If the trees cooperate, I fully intend to make this a fall tradition!
