Seeing Double

I may just have the cutest twin nieces ever. Last week, Becky took pictures of the twins in her living room. I think she did an awesome job, and captured the sweet poofiness of her girls.

Amanda wearing pink:

Audra wearing green:

She took some outside shots, too. Here's her favorite of them all.

  1. Oh yes. That last one is too much. Are they identical? (A lot of people ask me that about mine, and I like to say "well, they are different in ONE way."

  2. Too precious! Tell Becky she did a GREAT job! The girls are looking so grown up-though certainly not big!

The one of Amanda in that basket just too my breath away. She is SO TINY! Unless of course, she used a photshop tool to MINIMIZE her! :-)

I like the last two of the individual girls especially well. I hope she is framing them.

And the last one? Well. That is just TOO cool! I *must* know how she kept color like that on the bush and the flowers but made the girls black and white. THAT is BEAUTIFUL!

  3. They are tiny, though the poofy dresses hide it. They have the cutest little chicken legs, which amaze me even more when Susannah's standing next to them.

I don't think that they can know for certain if the twins are identical without having a blood (or DNA?) test done, because though they each had their own placenta, research supports the idea that identical twins can be in the same or separate placentas. I'll have Becky answer that simple question, though, because I'm not qualified.

  4. Oh, she used Picture-It Publishing, I think. (I don't even know if I spelled that right.)

  5. Sandy--We tell everyone that the girls are fraternal, as they most likely are. They had separate sacs, so only a 1 in 3 chance of being identical. To be SURE, we would have to have at least blood typing, and possible even DNA testing done--not worth the bother or expense. They do look enough alike, though, for me to have to look twice sometimes to be sure I have not mixed them up! :-) We will have to see if they look less alike as they get older. Since they were born, I have tended to dress Amanda with more pink and Audra with less pink or another color, or do the same with hair accessories. That way, I can tell at a glance! By the way, your "two" (and their elder brother) are all adorable!

Rebecca, No, the girls aren't very big, but it is also a BIG basket! LOL I had lots of pics that I took, so Abby had to pick and choose which she wanted to post. The main reason I did this was to not have to pay double for professional 1 year pictures (I have a family photo wall in the living room with the children's one year baby photos) if I could do them satisfactorily myself. This was my first try, as I had always taken my other children to cheapie Walmart for their one year. I figured it was hard enough to keep ONE baby from diving off the Walmart photo table, let alone TWO! I am hoping to do another "photo shoot" of them outside in casual clothes with lilac or rhododendron bush for background sometime. As for the last picture of the girls on the bench, I used Microsoft Picture It Publishing. I have over time learned some "in's and out's" of it, but this was the first time I tried this. It would have been nice (and easier) to just take out color or leave color where I wanted to in the picture, but I didn't find a place to do that. This picture was the result of changing the original picture to black and white then "hand" (or "mouse") coloring the flowers on the bench and in the background with colors of my choosing. It took a while, but I was pleased with the results. I would love postcards made with this photo! :-)

  6. Oh, and Rebecca, it's Picture It Publishing 2001 version that I have currently. I don't know if they even still sell Picture It or not, if so, maybe they even have better versions--you could always check eBay, too.
