Fog and Mist

John took us to a nature reserve that Dave and April told us about, and we enjoyed a walk together.

There were ducks there.

And girls watching ducks there.

And birds like this falcon that have been injured in the wild and now cannot fly, who live next to drowsy owls and a hyperactive bobcat.

Bright green moss to stroke.

Leaves dripping with finer jewels than rich women wear.

Birdhouses.

Ponds.

Sand to scratch one's mark in.

Me.

And a baby.

Little girls.

And these people, behind whom I couldn't seem to not follow.

  3. I like the picture of Millie and Annika feeding the ducks, and walking along the path and along the wooden bridge. Where is that?

The picture of Susannah patting the moss made me smile--I have some pictures very similar to that from when they were over here, because when we went up in the woods, she stopped peer at every patch of moss she saw! Funny girl.
(Deirdre used to do that, too.)
I'll try to send you those photos.

  4. Kate,
It's actually a little reserve on Long Island, and I don't know the name, but thanks to your comment, I looked up Sapsucker Woods and now have a cool place to take the girls this summer!

    Michelle,
Millie took it. (And it's not blurry!)

    Cadie,
I sometimes still pet it, too, so maybe she comes by it honestly. :)

  5. Those pink coats are the perfect splash of color in the grayness of winter water and fog. Great pictures!

And look! That C.O.O.L sleepwrap thing that I am going to copy! BTW,the little booklet for that wrap somehow made it under my couch and thank heavens a corner was sticking out or it would be GONE forever with no trail. I will TRY and remember to bring it on Sunday-but we BOTH know how long the yellow plate took...so don't hold your breath.

  6. I owe you the book on parenting, too! I'm going to buy a copy. Thank you.

I have the link for a make-your-own wrap, but I think you should use this one as a template because it tapers down at the ends for easier tying. Let me know if you'd like to borrow it to try out before you sew your own!
