Her eighth birthday fell right in the middle of Crazy Bean Week. I had two full canners on the stove and 20 more jars on the ready. I baked the cake, and with five minutes to go until the guests arrived, I tinted frosting for Millie to use in its decoration. Thank goodness she wanted to decorate it herself this year. The horses were knee-deep in a pasture full of sea foam, and she was as pleased as if I'd dedicated half a day to an elaborate cake.
Millie is such a blessing to me. I thank God for her spirit and heart, and I pray that He gives me wisdom and grace as I mother her.
A gentle counselor consecrated to God.
We love you, Bumpkin.
