Twenty-eight weeks stretched out behind, thirty-five pounds packed under my belt, and only a few months left, Lord willing, until we hold this little one!
"Mama, is that a fake smile?"
"Yup."
"Hee, hee. I think fake smiles look silly."
For the record, I think they do, too. Also, I feel extremely awkward posing for anything other than Frugal Fancypants pictures. This next picture is splendidly awkward.
Because I took the above pictures after church, all swathed in blue, I had Annie take those below this morning to more accurately display my rounded glory, as well as my customary Olive Oyl bun. And speaking of buns, when the younger girls asked me to put their hair in ballerina buns this morning, Zeke patiently stood in line for his turn, too, and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. (Don't worry. He's clutching a Matchbox car.)
p.s. Local Elizabeth B.,
ReplyDeleteThose slobby, bottom pictures are for you! That'll larn ya to not call my pregnant self "willowy." :) I grow into a strong and mighty oak, I tell you. A strong and mighty oak! (Although, if you ask my girlies, nearly every part of strong and mighty oaks are "super-fun to smush." I like to think of the smush as "strong and mighty.")
"not to call..."
ReplyDeleteSplit infinitive alert!
Does anyone care about split infinitives anymore?
ReplyDeleteLeaving pointless comments on my own blog post is the perfect way to burn the breakfast coffee cake that's in the oven right now. Eeek!
ReplyDeleteI love these! :) So fun! Burnt coffee cake and all :)
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! Hahahaha! I Love this!!! You look beautiful - baby and all. Zeke is precious and he is loving the attention. What a hoot. So glad I dropped in this afternoon. Made my day, as always.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and blessings your way, friend!
Much love!
Well. . .this has nothing to do with your comments, but. . .
ReplyDeleteSeeing your first picture here and your brief words suddenly overwhelmed me with the true miracle: you're growing a little human inside of you. And somehow we've (or I have, anyway) learned to think this is normal and unremarkable, instead of what it really is: astounding and breath-taking, and a privilege and honor.
Maybe you like walking around barefoot because some part of you knows you're treading on holy ground.
"What do you do for a living?"
ReplyDelete"I build human beings. It's my profession. I like it."
Can anyone top that?
Whatever Abigail Owen, you are STILL willowy, don't forget you are carrying a child in there!!! :) Thank you for your visual. You are still your gorgeous self no matter WHAT you say! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou look marvelous.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like all your smiles.
But most especially the ones I get to see in person!
:-)
Distant Elizabeth B. would like to say I love knowing there is a baby growing in you right now! Also I love to see how often heidiann(e) comments and to think that you two actually get to see each other in person now and then! I like seeing that. I like slobby bottom pictures too.
ReplyDeleteMolly and Michelle,
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! :)
Titi,
The eighth time around, I'm still caught short by this knowledge at the most unexpected moments. It is indeed a mysterious honor.
Local Elizabeth,
Oh, well. I tried! :)
Heidi-Bird,
Right back at you!
Distant Elizabeth,
I'm glad, too. And those bottom pictures are a much more accurate depiction than the others!
I saw all the comments to this post and thought "Oh no. Matt has come to give her a piece of his mind over that man-tail. ha!
ReplyDeleteOf course, Judah has been seen in plenty a dress in his day of course. That was just my first thought...which cracks me up.
Reading this backwards, I just recently read your 29+ weeks post and that was only 3 pounds more than this post. It seems to me you are right on target. ;-)
PS. What are split infinitives?
ReplyDelete;-)
HA! Three pounds in a week and a half is right on target? Yeah, that's on target, all right. For me and....well, just for me, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteSplit infinitives are infinitives that have been split in two by an adverb. Like so:
I want TO quickly GOBBLE a doughnut.
or
I want TO quickly SNARF some cheese.
or
I want TO quickly MUNCH a hot dog.
See, it's no wonder I'm right on target! :)
