A Wooden Spade They Gave to Me

One of our favorite parts of our Long Island vacation each year is going to the beach.  We don't take this current blessing for granted and are so glad that our connection to Grandma and Grandpa allows us in.  John took the baby and Zeke for a few hours and sent the rest of us off to the beach with Sarah.  The day was beautiful, and the beach was busy.  I wasn't hot enough to go more than waist-deep, and barely that, but I enjoyed playing with the girls and lounging around.

Millie played until, an hour in, she decided it was too sandy (the beach was too sandy?) and too bright and the water was too cold (it was cold).

Then she stole my hat for its shade and did this, all the while longing for a good book.

The other four stayed damp and sandy for our entire stay, though.  Here's the proof.
