Real Time (Call Me Ruby)

After a long wait, berries are finally beginning to ripen on Mount Hunger.

Just a bit ago, Wolf Boy discovered he could pluck enough for a small bowlful.

I discovered something, too-- John strung my birthday hammock in just the right place.

  1. FYI: With preparations for hosting a family picnic of nearly 40 bodies tomorrow still to go, I should neither be resting in a hammock nor blogging. WHY DO I DO THIS?

  2. (Also pertinent, but perhaps not something for which I want an answer, is the question of why I engage in stern conversation with myself in the comments section.)

  4. Whatever Abigail. You bought those berries from Wegmans and plunked 'em in a bowl....

because first year homegrown strawberries are never that enormous- are they?!?

    Must be the horse manure!

Also worth mentioning, you deserve a few berries for all you've been doing! Enjoy!

Also worth mentioning, I totally swiped the computer in the middle of Andrew's CAT testing. How is that for WHY AM I DOING THIS?!?!

  5. I can't think of a better picture to view for the first day of summer! Those berries are gorgeous! You deserve some R&R, girl, plus, you should enjoy the bounty of your labor even if it is in a supine position. I say, BRAVO!

    Much love!

  6. A birthday hammock.... I am a little jealous!!
Enjoy the hammock and those lovely strawberries! The only strawberries available here at the moment are hard, tasteless, expensive ones. Your photos make me long for strawberry season ( and remember to put strawberry plants on my shopping list). I hope your party went well!

  7. Yay! Strawberries! We haven't picked any this year yet and it's looking likely that we'll miss the picking season. Yay for family reunions too!
