The Lark Ascending

She's been here for eleven days.

Skylark Elizabeth Owen, our seventh daughter, arrived on October 14th at 5:30 a.m.

8 pounds, 5 ounces
20 1/2 inches long
Feet so big the nurse who delivered her kept exclaiming over their prodigious size
The softest dark hair

Lark-- our little beauty.

Fuller posts to come when real life is less full.
For now, the announcement, one poem, another, and some music.

  1. She's beautiful!!! The girls oohed and aahed as soon as the picture came up. We think her name is beautiful, too. (Is she your biggest? biggest girl?) Wish I was close by to snuggle with her. Much love from all of us. <3

  4. Yay! Congratulations. I've been checking for news almost every day. Love the name Skylark. Reminds me of my dad. He still waxes eloquent about the first car he ever bought brand new--a 1972 Buick Skylark that he special ordered with a cassette player back in the day when even 8-tracks were still pretty cutting edge. It was dove gray with a black top like this: https://i0.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/IMG_6282.jpg

So yeah, that name reminds me of my dad. =)

The girls are really trouncing the boys. I think we might say they have officially won unless you manage to make it to 14 kids.

Whew! That would be a lot of kids.

Blessings to you and little Skylark and your family. You guys are awesome!

  5. And here I thought you named her Skylark just because it sounded pretty. ;-)

Maybe send the doctor a quick email link to the 'ole blog.

Or don't. That is actually probably the worst idea in the world. ha!

Can't wait to see her on Sunday, Lord willing. She is lovely, every little bit of her.

  7. Thank you to all! We are happy to have her.

    Leah,
Yup! Biggest by over a pound. Zeke was the grand champion before her, and he weighed in at a whopping 7 lb., 3 oz. ;)

    Nanno,
That car is awesome! I would still talk about it, too, if I were him. I think of you guys and your dad often, and I hope you're well. Still need to get in LAST year's yearly phone call. Sheesh! And even though we're nearing the end of the line due to me becoming an old fogey, if we had a set of quintuplets boys, we could still do it. Phil would surely have to give us an award for good effort, at least...

    Rebecca,
Remind me to tell you a funny story about Dr. G. It's worth the telling.

  11. Yay! She is wonderful. I love her name too. But everyone already said that. I am very late to the game.

  12. Late or not, I'll take it!

Our Skylark E. needs to meet your Jane A. before they become teenagers. (That gives us some time to make it happen!)
