Due to one too many escapes from the whelping box, even with higher cardboard sides added, we moved the puppies into their basement quarters. The first few days they had to have a heat lamp because of the cold, but they've since acclimated. They have also acclimated to the new digs and discovered how to escape MANY times a day. Whenever I come downstairs in the morning, I expect to see 10 puppies wandering around the basement. (And I've had it. They are cute, but they are even more messy, and this experience confirms that I would never want to be a puppy breeder.)
