Bumpkin

Oh, Mildred, you look beautiful! May I take your picture?

Yes.
I'm pretty sure that this means "yes."

Ah, there's my long-suffering girl.

  1. I always love to see her headscarves. I try to pull them off because I think they are so lovely but Matt says (rightly) that I look too much like a chemo patient.

Oh to have Millie's lovely long luscious locks.

  2. Mindy's hair is not as long as Millie's, and she wears these SO beautifully! I'm pretty sure somebody could give a tutorial on how to wear them without the "severely ill" impression, but it might involve more fussing in front of the mirror than usual.

  3. This is sort of a random non-sequitur...
Not that long ago, I was looking over Caleb's shoulder when he came across some photos Titi had taken (in 2015 or thereabouts) of Millie and Annika modeling a fancy medieval dress Titi had sewed for Deirdre. It suited Millie so perfectly, and I remember thinking I'd love to do a painting of her from one of those photos. I mentioned that to Caleb, and he said, "Well, you still can!" I said the photos were a bit too dark, and he said "Well, you can fix that!" He then proceeded to fix it, tinkering with it and basically giving me a tutorial on how you use masks in Photoshop, and explaining the various things he was doing--using it to make her hair look deep and dark and her face bright without being washed out, but the eyes not overly dark, and getting rid of the greenish cast to the face--for an hour or so until my eyes were crossed and I was even more convinced that my little brother is basically a genius. (He said Justin taught him most of it, so Justin is a genius as well.)

(P.s. I still don't really know how to use masks in Photoshop, but I now know I can get Caleb to fix up a photo for me for a painting ;-P)

  4. Next time I try to take a family picture in which half of everyone's eyes are shut in each shot, I know who to call on to switch heads around. (Insert appropriately gruesome Purdy quip here...ha!) I'm not a bit surprised that Caleb has additional skills hidden up his sleeve.

I don't know how to do anything in Photoshop, including masks, but anytime you'd like a Hallowe'en mask, I'm your girl.
