Like a curmudgeon with candy sticks in his pocket, March refuses to fit into expectations. Pack snow boots but prepare for bare feet. Keep sunglasses in one pocket but stuff a spare candle in the other for dark days, just in case.
And, sometimes, when we're lucky, the same month that brings snowfall heavy enough to burden the lilac and snap a quarter of it to the ground will also bring spongy earth, bare feet, and a sudden double rainbow that splits the gray outside our windows.

This month is a breeze to post. I barely touched the camera in March, so all I had to do was sift through pictures the girls took to plump up my meager offering. Susannah took all the pictures in this opening post except these *, which I took, and **, which Piper took.
