Since Cadence's birthday was going to be packed with worship, company, and an Easter feast, we postponed her celebration a few days. This allowed Ineke to come for a sleepover, though, so Cadence wasn't the slightest bit disappointed.
For birthday breakfast, we ate lemon buns with lemon frosting, sausage, and hard-boiled eggs, which meant we started the day off with bellies already compromised.
I took these pictures later when they begged me to come see the treehouse tea party they concocted.
Later that evening we had more company, a birthday feast, and two kinds of ice cream cake, because, clearly, one kind is not enough.
It was a happy day for a happy girl. Oh, you sweet little thing, we love you! Watching you come into your own these last 2 years has been a gift. God strengthen you with yet more brave joy in the years to come.
