Corynn's Bridal Shower (December 2023)

I figured that starting posts up again with December of 2+ years ago would be safe. A bridal shower! Not even of my own birth daughter! Nope. I've been crying like a sad, little baby. I guess this is just the way things are going to be until I leave this mortal coil.

Considering Corynn now has a beautiful daughter, her bridal shower is old news, but c'est la vie on shotsnaps. Two years late and a keyboard covered in saltwater is how I roll these days.

I was two weeks overdue with Mallory at Corynn's shower. Annika, as technical hostess of the shower, did what she could but had recently moved 10 hours away.  Thank goodness Corynn has lots of Owen daughters who love her! Everyone pitched in to celebrate Corynn and her soon-coming wedding to Kemuel, and we did what we could to show her that love with strawberry shortcake, kettle corn, and an ugly gym full of family and friends.

Corynn and Kem have now been married for two years (!). They have a sweet baby (!). I pray God's blessing and guidance continue for the next two years and for the two and twenty-two and forty-two years after that. We love them.

I don't remember taking many of these pictures. I don't think I took more than a handful, so thank you, Rebecca (and Mildred, most likely), for giving Corynn something tangible with which she can remember the day.

It had only been five weeks or so since we'd seen Annika, but it felt like forever. Happiness.

Plus, this is the weekend she let us know she was pregnant, which made an overdue Mallory worth it.

The shower was the first week of December, so we scrounged dried flowers and asked Dude if we could steal a bunch of his pampas grass. He even delivered it to our door!

The gift table groaning with gifts was a testament both to the love people have for Corynn and their generosity. See those BASKETS stuffed full of gifts?! I was duly impressed.

Aidan just asked if this was the dress that Corynn wore to her wedding. "Nope! This was her wedding shower." I replied. "Oooh, pretty," he said admiringly.
Indeed. Corynn was glowing!

Doing and Making are ways by which Millie shows love to her people, so when we asked what she'd like to eat, and Corynn mentioned strawberry shortcake, of course Millie served *fresh* strawberry shortcake warm from the oven. What a girl!

Cousins!

One of my favorite parts of the shower was seeing Ineke watch Corynn open her gift. She was so sweet.

Opening Mary's gifts took a good bit. ;)  As always, I admired her talent for giving beautiful, bountiful gifts!

And, look! Another guest who gives beautiful, bountiful baskets!

I only got a few pictures of guests with Corynn because I'm terrible at taking pictures during events. (So terrible.)  Even with the terrible documentation, it was a wonderful day celebrating a wonderful girl and the gift of marriage she was about to begin.
