AN OUTRAGEOUS WASTE OF TIME AND TYPE
My camera's in a wheelchair.
In other, more worthy news, our Bird turned three today! I am so very tired, but shouting that fact from the rooftop was reason enough to delay sleep.
THREEEEEEE!
p.s. Sarah C.P. Tate-- I really am just tired, if you catch my meaning.

Hooray!! She's three!! :-)
She's such a funny little girl.
I hope you get your camera back soon, too.
LOVE that picture! She's growing up so fast!!
Cadie,
Unfortunately, it both left AND came back in a wheelchair. The amount that it would cost to fix the thing is equal to the cost for a new one on Amazon. (Fuji has churned out a couple of upgrades on this model since we bought it 2 years ago, so not only is our "outdated" model cheaper than it used to be but also its parts are hard to come by.) Gotta love mass-production.
I used it to take this picture, so it still works. The zoom switch is completely frozen, though, so I can only take close-up pictures of the girls or pictures of them as specks in the distance. You'll be seeing a lot of those in the future. :)
It was at the repair shop for a couple of weeks while I waited, and it's so nice to have it back, wheelchair or no wheelchair! I nearly bought it a bouquet of flowers for its homecoming.
Should I name it? It feels like an old friend returned.
(One more thing: should I be worried about my emotional health?)
One time recently Evan was looking through things on Amazon, and one of the things he was looking at was digital camearas. I was amazed that a Canon digital camera with TWICE the amount of megapixels mine has (14!-for the other camera) only costed about as much as the Nikon I bought several years ago with 5 megapixels costed, if I remember right. On second thought, I don't think it did cost that much, but prices are definitely coming down for digital cameras. Justin tried to tell me I should buy it, but I think I'll stick with the one I have. :) But the bad thing is like you said--you can't get the parts you need to fix your old camera because it's all newer stuff.
I'm glad your camera still works at least. When my Nikon fell off the tripod onto the road (I really kicked myself), it was dead. It couldn't focus after that. Rundy and Lachlan took it apart (!) and got it so it focused for a little while, but it was still screwed up and soon after it was dead. (Sniff, sniff! The camera died.) I am super-grateful that I was given another digital camera for my birthday (the 7 megapixel Canon one I have now), even though I don't think I asked for it. At the time I felt like I spent way more time than I really wanted to taking pictures, and I wasn't sure how much I'd be wanting to take pictures from then on. (Ha! Plenty.) I still don't take AS much as I used to, but the amount of photos on the hard drive since March 2007 attests to just how un-little I have taken. :P And I love the Canon camera.
Not being able to zoom is better than nothing at all--we still get to see some pictures of your Bird and others. But I extend my heartfelt sympathies on behalf of your camera's injuries.
Why don't you name it Old Friend? It seems pretty fitting. Then once you do, you can be worried about your emotional health. :)
Happy birthday to that lovely little bird...
I love naming inanimate objects! My first car was Fred Penner.
Ooh, very nice. Would you mind me calling my camera the same?
And I hope you stick around for the trailer-naming contest. I think you have a knack!
p.s.
Cadie,
I don't own a tripod, so I had nothing to blame but myself, but I'll happily blame myself as long as the camera still lives! It's pathetic how sad I would have been if it had broken completely...really, REALLY sad. I give you my sympathy.
You may use any of my inanimate object names, and I will be first in line to name the trailer.
this picture of Susannah is, I think, one of my very favorites.
Well.
THAT is hard to say because you take so So SO very many excellent ones. But I do love this one. A LOT
Happy Birthday (weeks late) to the CUTEST bird on the block!
Weeks late for me, too. Lucy is here chanting, "Susie, Susie, Su- SANNAH!"
I think it means Happy Birthday.
Hmmm....Just tired? I don't know. It's always a sign when you say you're tired to ask you pointed questions...just don't innocently say that there's a party in your tummy when you had a good meal!
Rebecca,
It's one of mine, too, and you're too kind.
Sarah,
I'm passing that birthday message along. I think three year old's birthdays last for months and months. At least she hasn't stopped talking about it. (And there's no party in MY tummy!)
