October 2023

October 2023 was a whirl of preparing for Tim and Annika's big day.  We had lasts-- last Big Woods walk with all the children; last picture of everyone in the Camel Tree, last Sunday together for best friends at church-- and firsts-- first time I've become a lollipop factory, first Hallowe'en without a Nixie, and a first lost tooth for Lark.

I still don't know how to write about this month, so that's that.

I always enjoy your posts. It's actually amazing that you still post. I've been blogging since I was 18, but I post less and less now. I'm glad you still write even through all the life you've been through, both good and bad. I have a hard time posting, and I only have 2 kids.

Thanks, Elisabeth! Your photos and writing poignantly remind me of life 20 years ago and make me nostalgic for life with littles. The fact that you don't post as often means you're probably being a good mama! ;) Blogging was an important outlet for me, and I used to squeak it into post-bedtime hours and wake up sleepy the next morning, which wasn't always a wise trade-off, or, worse yet, try to compulsively finish posts I had started during naptime *after* everyone had awakened. You're at the stage where you're the world to little people who are utterly dependent, but I have lots of older children who are capable and helpful, and while I SHOULDN'T blog in the middle of day (and should instead continue hoeing out our flooded basement, ha!), I have more pockets of time to waste than I did when everyone was littler. Keep up the brave, good work of loving your people! <3
