This reminds me of what our little kids like to do. They like to pick lots and lots of green weeds (sometimes ones that are really edible, like sorrel) to be a salad, or, more popularly, they make a soup. The most fun part (at least whenever I did it as a little kid!)is scrounging around for a variety of plants to make your soup more interesting. It's the most fun if you find something that looks like something in real life.

They also always tried to find a good way way to make pretend bread; usually they pick the seeds of goldenrod or grasses to be grains. The only problem is getting it to stick together. Water doesn't work very well! Maybe sometime I'll send you some pictures.

Some of my childhood favorites...

fish (found inside milkweed pods)

turkey and chicken (light and dark meat on decaying, fallen trees)

root beer and other delicious, sugary beverages that were rarities in the Johnson house came from a magical spout (a splintered branch half broken off)

And of course, the good ol' standby pies, cakes, cookies, fudge, and all else created of sticks, stones, and gooey mud!

I would love to see pictures of Purdy-fied, gourmet concoctions! Titi has my email address if you ever feel the urge...
