August was difficult, and I nearly broke entirely, but God promises not to break His bruised reeds, and these scant pictures reflect that in hard times, He gives good.

Millie and Annika went to Poiema, a weeklong retreat for young adults that encourages their hearts in the faith and through friendship, small children lived with joy, we celebrated Annika and Hannah's graduation from high school, we spent time with many people we love, the older two girls got jobs literally overnight, Millie turned 19 (!), and, while our gardens shriveled away, God filled our tables with free, fresh food. A double provision, as the job that helped ease discontent and provide purpose for the girls also filled our bellies and our freezers with food that otherwise would have gone to waste. 

And as I see in pictures the girls took, this dark season was also bright with skies afire.
