Millie lived out her fantasy of being Little Sal, even though the berries were the wrong color, saying, "TUPLINK!" with great satisfaction as she filled her "yittle tin pail." Posted by Picasa

You should take the kiddies blueberry picking.

It's got to be at least as much fun as picking strawberries.

We have a good blueberry place near us. I don't know if they're in your neck of the woods.

This isn't on your parents' land is it Abby? If so-I may just have to make a midnight appearance....

Rundy,
Plan to! I'm looking for the cheapest u-pick place and hope to go this week.

Rebecca,
Don't I wish my parents have acres of tended strawberry rows! If so, I'd make those midnight appearances right by your side. :) There is a huge wild blueberry patch up the road from my mom (and Scott and Leah), though. We used to always pick there growing up, and you could try midnight appearances there!

aw-too bad.

I have access to acres and acres of blueberry's near the in-laws' house. Since we are there every weekend it seems...I guess that would be the better place to go. :-)

What did you do with the strawberries?

we gobbled them! (my mom also made a strawberry rhubarb pie, but that fits squarely in the gobbling category, anyway.)

i'm not making any jams this year (except maybe the blueberry lime you made) because 1. we have very limited space for canned goods 2. my shelves are already stocked for the next few years with jams my mom has made. (i haven't made any jam since i left home, but we always seem to have an over-abundance!)

i didn't freeze any, either, because i want our teensy freezer to have enough room for some garden stuff (and the blueberries i've already frozen).
