Suffer Long
Our chickens are well-loved and incidentally abused. I went outside one day to discover that Millie had fashioned bells for two honored chickens, one of which Annie was holding. Hey, if cowbells have a purpose...
Don't worry. I had her remove the chicken bell from poor Sumac Gold.
(And as I've mentioned, my children like to dress themselves...)

That chicken looks ECSTASTIC about the bell.
I LOVE that first picture. The hat and the chicken...I think you could win a blue ribbon with that one!
I love that hat.
One of my goals in life is to wear more hats---more interesting hats. I don't know as that I'll ever make much progress toward that goal, but hats are always so full of character.
Believe it or not, I used to stuff my giant head into that hat in college. It fits Annie much better.
And, Sarah, who wouldn't be?!
I wish i knew how to post GIANT photos. There more lovely that way. I'm sure that that chicken was very confused by the extra clamor. I find chickens make enough of their own noise that bells are not usually necessary. Pretty, though - so well worth the effort of wrestling a bell onto a chicken's neck.
What a gorgeous picture. The chicken so does not look happy!!
