I chopped them literally a minute before we left so she'd look more like her character. I knew you'd approve!

Heidi-bird,

She's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, of course! (What? Haven't all the nine-year olds you know counted that as their favorite movie from the time they were five?)

I made the costume the afternoon of Hallowe'en; as I sewed, she kept remarking that probably no one would know who she was. She was right. I guess it's hard to find die-hard Miyazaki fans among country folk. (The sad thing is that if she'd dressed as Hannah Montana, of whose existence she isn't aware, EVERYBODY would've known who she was.)
