Deirdre loves goofy pig-tails. The longer her hair gets, the more the begin to look sligtly less goofy. She used to play with them a lot, esp. when she was tired, as one might with a favorite blanky. Now she has taken to braided pig-tails, and much to my supreme annoyance, she likes to chew on the ends.
The part that annoys me is trying to get the knots out later. . . as a rambunctious girl, complete with licking out empty ice cream boxes, her hair is quite knotty enough. Dried spit only makes everything worse. But as long as I don't have to comb out your knots, feel free to chew on your hair without any apology to me!

I used to chew on my hair when I was younger, too. Here's a delayed apology.
(Millie occasionally does, too. I wonder what makes hair so delicious?)
