This is, of course, a classic shot--straight out of a storybook! Even in the storybooks the girls wear red dresses and rain boots, and ponytails. Obviously Millie's been reading the script!
This is her red-orange "Indian" dress (a favorite of late since she saw the dancers at the fair). The boots are old standbys; she loves to wear boots everywhere, rain or shine, as it seems a lot of kids do (at least her "tuzzins" do, but then, they live in the country and have more need of boots).
She looked so funny stretching and stretching to reach the little slot. :)
When I was a little kid, I absolutely loved the "Hannah" books as I called them from the library. They were two books about a little girl named Hannah, who, according to my memory (which is vague) had boots which she splashed around in the rain in, and a pony-tail, and a dress. She may have even mailed a letter, because that picture reminds me of something too. I think I liked them because she looked like such a picture-perfect girl.
If you remember the names of the books someday, let me know, and I'll snatch them out in a heartbeat. It is so fun to see little girls in dresses and boots, and I'm glad that Millie fits into the "picture-perfect" slot as defined by the Purdy girls. :)
Okay, will do, but they may turn out being different than I remember them/made them sound. Vague memories have a tendency that way. There wasn't really anything that special about the books, I just loved them for some reason. :)
