True Blue
I'll have to change the title of the coon post from "Cute Coon, Or, It Ended Badly" to "Cute Coon Tested Positive for Rabies, Or, So Now My Heart Is at the Hospital Getting the First of His Rabies Shot Series While We're on Vacation in Long Island on His Stinkin' Birthday."
Until the day breaks.
Happy birthday, Love.

Oh my! How many shots are in the series? No fun, for sure, but tell John we said Happy Birthday!
And thank you for the email. Can't wait to see you all again! :D
I can't help but be thankful for the results of the test, given all the circumstances AGAINST a positive read.
We both knew it had rabies anyway- and now you can rest in the comfort of knowing John is getting taken care of in the way we both knew he ought to be. God is so good.
You can celebrate his life today in an even more potent way, I think. Especially now that he isn't going to turn into a werewolf.
Happy Birthday to John!
oh, UGH!
So sorry to hear about this whole ordeal.
Happy birthday, anyway, JRO.
For real! Ugh.
Happy birthday, John?
We are glad you were born and glad you are still alive.
:( the timing stinks, but I'm glad rabies shots exists. I knew the dratted thing had rabies, but I'm glad it's only one of your household getting shots.
I am so sorry to hear this! I agree with all posts before me that we are grateful your family was protected, and we are thankful for the rabies shots to keep John protected. We will continue lifting your family up in prayer and for John to receive special birthday blessings throughout this year.
Please check your email when you have a chance.
Much love,
Molly
ugh, indeed. hoping john (and john wayne) are doing well.
love!
Gross.
Oh no. Praying for your John.
Clarification: having to get shots on your birthday is GROSS! Poor guy! I hope he ate lots of cake.
Thanks for the John-love, folks!
Leah, there are at least four in the series, but on his birthday, in addition to the rabies, he had to get a tetanus and 10+ individual immunoglobulin shots in isolated points on his legs where the sprayed blood could have entered. He was at the hospital for 8 hours. Ugh is right!
Rebecca,
He and I made lots of jokes about him dying of rabies, but, for me, underlying it all was a PLEASE DON'T DIE OF RABIES! I know his time to leave has been ordained since time began, but still...
W.,
!!! I love that you occasionally pop out and surprise me with the knowledge that you still check in on us. Hurrah! In real life again, someday, I hope.
Molly,
Thank you, ma'am. Will do!
Torie,
Ha! That made me laugh. Calling my husband gross is not allowed! Plus, he doesn't even like cake. What a bummer.
p.s. Rebecca,
I think John is already part were-wolf, but were-raccoon? Now that'd be SOMETHING!
