Too Many Pictures of Pigs
For too long, I've had "painting matryoshkas" tucked away on my to-do list, and I finally made a This Little Piggy set for Mom Owen, who likes both pigs and matryoshkas. Predictably, I painted them in the two days before they came for a visit. Since the girls have now all requested a personalized set (I said that I'll try to give them each one for their 13th birthday, which means that I'm already behind, given Mildred's status as a 14 1/2 year old), I'll have further chances to paint them at a reasonable pace, but if you're a gambler, I don't recommend betting on it.
I didn't know what I was doing, so I just made a rough sketch straight onto the bare wood for the first few. For later ones, I first painted a base coat of pink, which saved some time.This set ranged in size from about 6" - 1.5" tall.

The two most important things to get from market are tulips and eggs.
This little piggy stayed home. She is a dutiful piggy and quite industrious.
Here's the plump, little piggy who ATE the roast beef.
The emaciated, little piggy who, alas, had none.
To add insult to injury, he has a comb-over.
His sorrow pales compared to the littlest piggy, though. She cried wee, wee, wee, all the way home, poor thing.

They were fun to make, though in looking at the pictures now, I'm already seeing things I messed up on. Sheesh. Good thing my painting, such as it is, is confined to small and easy projects.
p.s. By "easy," I mean little, crafty, cute-sy things instead of a bonafide painting. I'd probably take years to finish one.
