The day after Hallowe'en, the girls again wore their costumes. (Millie had slept in hers.) This is how they looked the night before, the only differences being that the night before, Millie had "speckles" on her cheeks instead of rosy circles and Annika was wearing more sensible walking wear on her feet. Also, it's brighter than it was on Hallowe'en night, which makes for better snapshot-taking.

The cow-girl costume is so great. Did the horse come all the way from Long Island, too?

The horse was a gift from Mrs. Eckley around the time of Mildred's first birthday. It has served the family faithfully since that time. (We, however, have perhaps not served it as faithfully. Note the head crushed into cement.)

Liana,
I was just given a children's cowgirl costume pattern. Perhaps you could adjust it to fit?
