Clothes Don't Make the Cake
I made this today for a fundraiser toward my sister's senior trip/mission trip. Triple decker devil's food with a rich chocolate ganache filling. (My mom dropped off the ingredients, and I got to bake and dress it.) If you feel like traipsing off on a treasure hunt, the recipe is in buildabelly's September 2005 archives.

Oh my! My mouth is watering & I also will NEVER post another picture of MY lame cakes again!
What a masterpiece Abby!
Oh la la! Very impressive!
My jaw dropped. I have scrolled back up several times just to set eyes on this beauty once again. I don't think I have seen a more beautiful cake.
I just can't gush enough. Wow. You are definately beyond Martha Stewart!
OKay-here I am again-admiring your cake, though this time, a question in my gushing...
Question:
How did you make the sides rippled like that? Do you have a doo-hicky?
Gush:
Again...this kaliedascope (sp?) cake is gorgeous.
McFrickinRidiculous...
That looks drawn. Very impressive stuff, young Abigail...
Ya ya, looks good. But does it taste good??
OH I REALLY WANNA EAT IT HEHE, You do a great job!!
WOW!! I'll have to echo Liana's comment about future cake photos on my blog:)
Maybe our fundraising would be going better if we centered it around cakes like these!!
Well, the cake crumbles I snitched were good, and the ganache, as always, is dreamy, but I can't vouch for the thing as a whole.
You all BETTER still post pictures of sweet foods on your blogs, along with the savory. Sheesh. If that's my reward for posting a cake I made that actually didn't flop, I'll not post any more.
Rebecca,
I'll post a picture of the makeshift doohicky with the next glut of pictures.
holy cow, what a cake.
don't worry abby. i'll still post pictures of what i cook/bake.
we just got a big ol' dutch oven, and i'm so excited to make bread in it. we'll see.
We have some Tupperware doohickey that makes waves. My mom passed it on down to me. You have inspired me to do something more with it than just have the kids use it for Play-Doh. :D
Michelle
Heidi,
HURRAH! I can't wait!
Michelle,
But don't ban it from Playdough use, either! I remember the few kitchen things my mom let me use for Playdough very fondly. :)
Wow, you and your girls should start a cake business!
