Playing Outside After Church

I looked outside and saw Cadence sitting like this on the piano (the coolest toy), This girl astounds me. Seriously girly. Who sits like that unconsciously at age 2?!

She then started talking to pumpkins.

And hugging them.

Then this tough biker noticed and came over to play.

And they look pretty innocent together, if I do say so myself.

They are so sweet. I love her dress. Did you make it?

No, but I wish I did! This is a vintage, hand-embroidered dress that my sisters and I wore when we were young. A few years back, my mom took some of our baby clothes to my older sister's house for her to pick out what she'd like, and this was one she passed on to me (because I love green, and she's kind!).

And I think this is one of my favorite of the 'little girl' ensembles. That and a fallish orange-ish one, I think are my two all time faves. Someday, I hope to copy them. When I have nothing better to do and can somehow successfully fudge a more complex dress like this without a pattern. HA!

But then again, if I hand-embroidered all those delicate little stitches, I would probably be so obsessed about keeping it clean that I would never have anyone actually WEAR it.

It helps when someone ELSE does the work. ;-)

I always have visions of embroidery designs I could embellish on jumpers and hats and such, if I were dutiful with my time, while knowing full well that I likely never would. I tell myself, Lord willing, that's what my grandmotherly years will be for; we'll have the best-dressed grandchildren in town! ;)

"We" meaning you and I, because of course those will be your golden embroidery years, too.
