Flit

Small as it is, the aviary is still one of my favorite places in the zoo, with the whir of overhead tanager wings, the comical legginess of the stilt, and the deliberate pace and glorious shade of the ibis.

Two Owens and one scarlet ibis.

And, oddly, this youngling.

As proof that he was indeed nestled in the aviary, here comes the scarlet ibis.

That is very funny!

I have never seen an ibis. How beautiful they are!

We would love to make a jaunt up to Ross Park before too long... I used to go there often while growing up, but none of my children have ever been to a zoo. Bad mama!

Our family has a season pass until August, so if you visit it before then and would like some company, let us know! It's smaller than I remember it being when I was younger (I went there twice on class trips), but it's still fun, and the girls, of course, are looking at it through eyes that think it's huge!
