Sugar-Bush-It-Old-School: Step One

As soon as sap begins to flow, oblige your kindergartner when she tells you what she wants to copy for handwriting.  This is integral.  Don't forget it!

Ready?  All right!  Let's make some maple syrup!

Before you gather needed items for sugar-bushing, make sure you DON'T have these things:
-an outdoor wood stove
-an evaporator
-anything modern, time-saving, shiny, or convenient
(Actually, a propane burner is both modern and time-saving, but since it's most decidedly not money-saving, I won't hold anything against it for these posts.)

Okay, let's move on to the next step.

I feel like my childhood books are coming to life! Tapping trees! And hopefully, maple in the snow??? :)
What wonderful memories these girls will have...and wonderful pancakes as well. :)

If we get a nice, thick snowfall before spring, you can bet we're having sugar on snow! Um, for the girls' sake, of course...
