Frugal Fancy-Pants-- Maternity Edition
I was supposed to post these BEFORE Honeybuckle came out, but you know how those things go. Without further ado, here is the last Frugal Fancy-Pants for a while. Somehow, still lugging 25 extra pounds around doesn't make me too eager to showcase my wardrobe. You wouldn't want to see pictures of me stuffing sausages, would you? I didn't think so, and it's the same idea.
Exhibit A:
Suggestion: Wear this outfit at 39 weeks when your Heart takes you out for a double date-- one last night out on the town before baby. (Not that you won't be up during the nights in the weeks to come...) Comfortable enough for a long walk through the "city" to find a restaurant that is not closed yet also dressy enough for the play to follow at the local theater.
-Red headband: free with a ten dollars off anything coupon that came in the mail.
-Black maternity dress: rummage sale
-Red grosgrain ribbon used as a sash: rummage sale
-Black ballet flats: rummage sale
Total cost of outfit: About thirty cents
*Optional accessories:
-Compression hosiery: free with medical insurance
-Cankles and varicose veins: free with pregnancy and bad genes
-Vintage Put-a-bird-on-it-bird: topped a gift lamp from sis-in-law Sarah J.
Exhibit B:
Suggestion: Wear this outfit at 38 weeks when you decide, three days before hosting an Easter dinner, that it's the ideal time to finally paint the library.
-Inside-out maternity shirt: rummage sale
-Maternity jeans: hand-me-downs
-Brown boots: gift (but my mom-in-law only paid a dollar for them on sale, so they count)
Total cost of outfit: about 5 cents
*Optional accessories:
-Paint on your clothes, in your hair, and everywhere (laughably the most expensive part of this ensemble)
-Wonderfully round belly: a gift from God
