A Bear's Dream

The wild blackberry season was more bountiful this year than I ever remember it, and more than it will probably be for years to come. My mom kept exclaiming over it, and finally the girls and I made it to the patch to pick a bucketful.

The thorns snagged me every chance they got.

But we hauled a brimful bucket away, anyway.
We nibbled our berries, and I turned the rest into many jars of jam. Ho, winter!
